Installing High End Stereo System Components – Harbor Springs Mi
This stereo system upgrade was what I worked on last Friday. I have been working for this residential electrical client for about six years now. I wired his Harbor Springs house in 2005.
Sunrise Electronics and Security did the original set up but I have been asked to tweak a few things since then. This man loves vinyl records. He has a very special turntable but at night he was having trouble seeing the stylus, so I installed a small cabinet light over it with a hidden switch. You can see it on the left near the top.
What I worked on last was the two McIntosh amplifiers to the right of the TV. It’s called binary amplification. Essentially each speaker has two sets of terminals. One for the sub woofers and one for the mid range and tweeters. So I ran an RCA wire from the receiver to a cross over which separates the high tones from the low tones. Then the low tones are sent to the bottom amp (you can notice the blue dials) and the high tones are sent to the top amp and from there you wire to each of the JBL monitor speakers. It sounds pretty complicated, but for audiophiles the end product is well worth the effort and expense.
