Electrical Work on a Commercial Retail Space-Harbor Springs Mi
Last Week I completed the “rough in” stage of another unit in Harbor Plaza Where I take care of all of their electrical projects. This unit was next door to the insurance agency I wrote of in an earlier post. The unit was occupied by a hair salon previously. And as you can see by the picture the electrical was in pretty sad shape. What happened there was that a water heater went bad in an upper unit and caused a flood, but regardless of that the wiring that was done here is not to code.
In commercial applications all wiring has to be in some kind of conduit or in some situations residential grade wire may be used but it has to be concealed behind drywall. This unit meets the criteria for residential wire but as you can see it was run exposed all over and with open splices in many places. This is not a good situation so what I’ve done is take out all the wiring you see in the picture and start over from scratch. After I complete the finish portion I’ll write again to show what the finished product looks like.
It’s very rewarding to take something that’s extremely disorganized and turn it into something you can be proud of. If you have a store front in Northern Michigan and are wondering about the electrical wiring don’t hesitate to call for a free estimate.
